LIFE4
What is LIFE4?
Section titled “What is LIFE4?”LIFE4 is a community ranking ladder for DDR, run independently of Upscore. Each rank is a list of requirements, and you climb by meeting all of them.
Visit life4ddr.com to read the rules, browse ranks and see other players’ status.

Reading your rank
Section titled “Reading your rank”The rank screen has three parts:
- Your rank now, with Next up underneath it
- MA Points, your total across the ladder
- A row for every requirement of the rank you are working on, with progress
like
269 / 273
Tap a requirement to see exactly which charts are still outstanding. A requirement marked Swapped is one you have substituted, and Swap on a row offers you that option where the rank allows it.
Connecting your LIFE4 account
Section titled “Connecting your LIFE4 account”Connecting is optional. Upscore tracks your progress either way, but connecting allows:
- Trial rank imports. This allows trials you have already completed to automatically count against rank requirements.
- Your profile name and official rank
- You can submit rankups and trials from inside Upscore
Connect from Profile → LIFE4 → Trials → Connect LIFE4. You approve the connection on life4ddr.com, then Sync from LIFE4 pulls your trials in.
Which scores count
Section titled “Which scores count”This is the setting that decides everything else, and it is worth getting right before you submit anything.
| What it uses | What you can do | |
|---|---|---|
| Only official scores | e-amusement and Sanbai only | Ranks carry the verified badge, and can be submitted |
| All scores | everything in Upscore | Track progress unofficially, cannot submit |
“Official” means a score Upscore received directly from e-amusement or the Sanbai API.
Submitting a rank
Section titled “Submitting a rank”- Switch on Only official scores first. Submissions are refused without it.
- On the rank screen, tap Submit rank.
- Check the proof card Upscore generates. It lays out every requirement and how you met it.
- Add anything else that helps: result screens, trial results, your LIFE4 profile. Up to 20 screenshots, plus a link if you have one.
- Submit.
It goes into the LIFE4 team’s review queue, and a decision usually takes a couple of days. Submitting a trial works the same way from the Trials screen.
How come my Upscore rank doesn’t match the official LIFE4 rank?
Section titled “How come my Upscore rank doesn’t match the official LIFE4 rank?”Your rank likely drifted! Upscore recalculates continuously from your scores, so it shows what you have currently earned. Your LIFE4 rank is what LIFE4 has awarded you, which only changes when a submission is reviewed.
So a gap is normal, and usually one of these:
- You have not submitted yet. Upscore can tell you a rank is complete, but only LIFE4 can grant it.
- You need to set your exclusions. LIFE4 will only calculate songs that are available to you in Upscore. You can manage song exclusions (such as Extra Stage or event songs) by clicking the chart icon on the LIFE4 page

- A submission is still in the queue. Reviews take a couple of days.
- You are counting all scores rather than official ones. Switch to Only official scores to see the rank you could actually submit. Upscore shows you a preview of that number before you switch.
- Some requirements are estimates. Where LIFE4 has not published a rank’s full requirements, Upscore estimates them from the ranks either side, and says so on the rank. Those are best guesses, not the official list.
- A trial you passed is not in Upscore’s trial list. Imported ranks that point at trials Upscore does not know about are shown but do not count toward requirements.
- Your scores are behind. Sync before you compare.
My trials didn’t import
Section titled “My trials didn’t import”Check the connection first. If the Trials screen offers Connect LIFE4 rather than showing you as connected, the link has lapsed. Reconnect and tap Sync from LIFE4.
Then:
- Is the profile actually yours? Upscore matches the rival code on the profile to your e-amusement account, and will say so if it cannot confirm it.
- Did the first sync fail? It says so, and Sync from LIFE4 retries.
- Are the trials current? Trials that are no longer in the app’s list still appear, marked as such, and do not count.
If it is still wrong, ask on Discord and we can help troubleshoot.
